- This competition is free to enter and is open to residents of the UK aged 18 and over, other than employees and their families and agents of the promoter or of Fiat Group Automobiles UK Ltd ("Fiat") and anyone else professionally associated with the competition. No purchase necessary.
- All entrants must complete their details and submit the online entry form at www.fiat.co.uk/smiles.
- Entries must be completed online between 24th July 2008 and 22nd August 2008. Entries received after the 22nd August 2008 or incomplete/unsupported entries will not be accepted.
- All entries must be supported by digital images of the entrant's prototype (with the option of also uploading a video and/or supporting documentation), all of which can be used for any marketing communication by Fiat.
- The design of the prototype must be tailored around new ways of getting from A to B and making personal transport as enjoyable as possible. Entries must not relate to vehicles or their components.
- All artwork and designs must be the original work of the entrant to the competition and must not infringe the intellectual property rights of any third party.
- All valid entries (with the permission of the entrant) will be displayed in the Fiat Showcase Gallery at www.fiat.co.uk/smiles, from the 31st July 2008.
- In order to be selected as a finalist, prototypes must be ready to be tested, and capable of being used by the public, by 1st September 2008.
- 5 short-listed entrants will be chosen from the valid entries by 1st September 2008 and each will be requested to submit original artwork / blueprint in support of their entries.
- Judges at Fiat team and their ambassador will then select one winner who will be awarded the prize using criteria set by the Fiat team.
- The prize is a £50,000 cheque made payable to the winner in order to enhance their prototype.
- The winner is responsible for any income tax or national insurance which may be due on this prize and is responsible for taking his own tax advice.
- At Fiat's request, the winner will licence free of charge to Fiat all intellectual property rights in their design/prototype (including in any patent/patent application) for a minimum period of 2 years, and shall execute the appropriate written documentation in order to formalise that licence in the form requested by Fiat.
- If, in Fiat's opinion, the winning prototype does show potential for successful market entry, the winner shall, at Fiat's option, negotiate in good faith with Fiat, as regards the commercial way forward after the licence period expires.
- The winner will be notified by 25th September 2008 at the finale pitch night.
- All short-listed prototypes, including the winning entry, will be on display from the 4th September for a total of 5 weeks: the first 3 weeks will be for public voting (which forms part of the criteria) and the last 2 weeks for a consumer exhibition ending 9th October 2008.
- The winner and the 4 other short listed entrants may be required to take part in publicity activity.
- Entry to the competition is deemed as acceptance of these terms and conditions. Fiat reserves the right to withdraw the promotion at any time if events or circumstances occur outside its control which make this necessary.
- The decision of the promoter is final.

Promotional terms and conditions for sales and test drive incentive
- Offer open to UK residents aged 18 and over, other than employees (and their families) of the promoter, their agents and anyone else professionally associated with this promotion.

- The first 200 participants to test drive a Fiat car between 4th September and 9th October 2008 inclusive will receive a £15 Selfridges voucher. The first 100 participants to purchase a Fiat car between 4th September and 9th October 2008 inclusive will receive a Nintendo DS. Your test drive incentive will be provided instantly at the Fiat Flagship Store in London. Your Nintendo DS will be sent to you by post within 4 weeks of purchase date.
- The promoter reserves the right to substitute the incentive / prize for one of equal or greater value. No cash alternative. Unless otherwise agreed by the promoter, in writing, the prize is non-transferable. No correspondence will be entered into. The decision of the promoter is final.
