According to research carried out by Fiat, 72 per cent of motorists believe the UK has some of the most scenic roads in the world.

With this in mind, Fiat has compiled the guide Scenic Drives Near Me: The Best Drives In The UK – an interactive map that details the 10 best drives, interesting waypoints and a pre-loaded route that can be downloaded straight to a smartphone.

Given Fiat has the perfect car for a great scenic drive, the convertible all-electric 500, it has taken the liberty of revealing the Top 10 most scenic roads on these shores. In addition, the guide also highlights where the nearest electric charge points are along or near the route.

These are the top 10 road trips in the UK, voted for by 2,000 UK motorists.

1. The North Coast 500

North Coast 500 isn’t just a beautiful coastal drive, there are numerous sites and activities along the way.

Invergordon, a town once home to the Royal Navy fleet, has a unique outdoor art gallery of 11 plus large-scale professionally painted murals. Energetic drivers could stop off at Dunnet Beach on the north coast of Caithness for an unforgettable surfing experience. Or there’s white water rafting located on River Findhorn near the beginning and end of North Coast 500.

Stop by Dunrobin Castle for a real Scottish fairytale, go otter spotting at Tosaig or even chase dolphins at Chanory Point. If you’re looking for one of the best driving roads in Scotland, the A82 is the name of a very scenic Scottish road passing along the shores of Loch Lomond and Loch Ness and the shadow of Ben Nevis. 10. The Black Mountain Pass A4069 in the Brecon Beacons, Wales

On this scenic drive, expect dramatic panoramic views along this swooping mountain pass - a firm favourite with Jeremy Clarkson, and it’s easy to see why.

Beginning at the junction with the A474 at the north of Gwaun-Cae-Gurwen and travelling through Lower Brynamman and Brynamman, this fascinating route opens up to the Black Mountain Pass and emerges near Felindre near Llangadog. It then crosses through and continues northeast until the junction with the A40 at Llandovery. It reaches an incredible height of 493 m (1,617 ft) above sea level which is no doubt one of the most iconic scenic drives in the country.

Historical castles can be spotted along the route, including Carreg Cennen Castle and Dinefwr Castle.
