Calls and texts

Using your phone in the car is a breeze with Blue&Me^TM. It works via Bluetooth®, so there's no fiddling about with the handset while you're driving.

Take answering a call. All you need to do is press the button on the steering wheel. To make a call, either scroll through your contacts lists on the dashboard or simply use voice recognition. Say 'Call Gina' or 'Call Laura', and Blue&Me^TM connects within seconds. Simple.

Reading SMS messages is easy too.  As soon as you receive a text, Blue&Me^TM will tell you. And at the push of a button or by voice command, the message will be read out over the car's speakers. It's also smart: Blue&Me^TM can even interpret abbreviated text like 'CU L8R' or 'R U UP 4 2nite?'

Music

Browsing and playing your music collection is almost effortless with Blue&Me^TM.

You just plug your USB stick or MP3 player into the USB port provided, and all your favourite music is at your fingertips or at your voice command.

You can use the buttons on the steering wheel to skip through albums or tracks as shown on the dashboard display, or use simple voice commands like 'Next', 'Previous' and 'Play'.

Your entire music collection is at your beck and call, without taking your hands off the wheel.

Navigation

Getting lost is a thing of the past with Blue&Me^TM navigation.

Blue&Me^TM Instant Nav

With Blue&Me^TM Instant Nav you'll always be in the right place at the right time. This latest generation infomatic system combines a satellite navigator, a dual tuner radio and a CD/MP3 player in one device, integrated into the dashboard.

Featuring a 6.5" colour display, GPS and voice control, it's also easy to use. And with the TMC (Traffic Message Channel), it will alert you about congestion or problems on your journey and suggest an alternative route to your programmed destination.

You can even use your phone and listen to your favourite music stored on the USB stick or media player while you're navigating, all in maximum safety.

Blue&Me^TM Map

If you prefer a touchscreen that's easy to install and remove, then Blue&Me^TM Map designed by Fiat's Centro Stile is for you. It works in a similar way, but is a portable device that slots straight onto your car's dashboard without the need for cables or a windscreen mount. And just like Blue&Me^TM Instant Nav, you can safely listen to music and use your mobile phone at the same time.

eco:Drive

eco:Drive is an easy-to-use, free-to-download computer application based on Blue&Me^TM technology that helps you to improve how efficiently you drive. It analyses your driving style and gives you tips on how to use less fuel, save money and reduce your CO2 emissions.

Just plug a USB stick into your car port and it will automatically store your driving data, even when you're using other Blue&Me^TM functions like playing music or making a call. You can then analyse the information later using the eco:Drive application installed on your home computer.

About Blue&Me^TM

Blue&Me^TM is an innovative system that lets you use your Bluetooth® enabled mobile phone, listen to music in digital format and navigate your way around without distracting you from driving.   

It consists of

• Controls on the steering wheel
• Hands-free kit with Bluetooth® technology
• High-level voice recognition system
• Compatibility with most Bluetooth® mobile phones
• USB port
• Compatibility with most media players with a USB connection
• Navigation screens for Blue&Me^TM Map and Blue&Me^TM Instant Nav

Hardware

The hands-free phone system and music played on a media player (connected via USB port) can be controlled by buttons on the steering wheel or by voice commands. The microphone is perfectly located to pick up the driver's voice, so there's no need to change position.

You can view Blue&Me^TM system options and status on the digital display of the car's instrument panel. It will show playlist and music track information, your contacts, outgoing and incoming calls and new text messages. It can even read received text messages out to you and understands common abbreviations and symbols.

What you can do

• Make and receive calls: once paired with Blue&Me^TM, mobile phones connect automatically when you get in the car
• Choose names or numbers from your phonebook to be displayed on the car's instrument panel
• Use voice controls to call a name or number from your phonebook without taking your hands off the steering wheel

• Plan a route and get directions on screen and vocally through the car speakers

Phones

Bluetooth® 

Thanks to integrated Bluetooth technology, Blue&Me^TM can make communicating while driving safer and easier with hands-free functions. Voice control and viewing call and text information on a car's instrument panel display lets you keep your hands on the wheel and your eyes on the road.

Receiving calls

When your phone is connected to the car and you receive a call, music will be muted (if it's playing) and you'll hear the ringtone through the car speakers. You can answer the call by pressing a button on the steering wheel and adjust the conversation volume using the steering wheel controls.

Making calls

If you have copied your phonebook into the Blue&Me^TM internal memory you can view it and select one of the names or numbers using voice commands. You can also make a call using the steering wheel buttons or the keypad on your mobile phone.

Text messages

If your phone supports text message reading, you will either hear a tone or see a message on the display when you receive a text. You can choose to hear your text read out using the buttons or voice commands. And with a text recognition system it will even convert common abbreviations like 'c u l8r' into speech.

Media player

Compatibility

Most music files are recognised by Blue&Me^TM including WMA, MP3, WAV, AAC, MP4 and files with digital rights (DRM).* Most media players and USB sticks will work with the system. It also charges your device while it's plugged into the USB port.

*Upgrade software 5.4 and/or an adaptor may be required. For more information,see UPDATES section below.

Playing music

You can control the music played by your device in two ways. You can choose to listen to your music by category (artist, album or genre) using voice control. Or you can scroll through the list of songs shown on the digital display of the instrument panel using the steering wheel controls.

Managing the media library

If you're using Blue&Me^TM with software earlier than version 5.4, it will build a media library when a device is connected to the USB port.  It doesn't download music onto the Blue&Me^TM internal memory, it builds a media library on the USB device. You can play in continuous or random mode, or search by artist, album or genre.

iPods and iPhones

New generation iPods and iPhones are also compatible with Blue&Me^TM. To play music without converting to MP3 format, you need a special adaptor that's available from the Fiat Accessories website or from your local Fiat dealer. It converts the music files on your iPod or iPhone so they can be played directly through the system. Older generation iPods are also compatible with Blue&Me^TM, but the music must be in MP3 format.

Updates

Updating Blue&Me^TM to version 5.4

If your mobile phone works fine with the version of Blue&Me^TM currently in use in your car, there is no need to update your software. If you have purchased a new car with version 5.4 already installed (for example, the 500C or cars with Blue&Me^TM Instant Nav), you dont need an update.

It's quick and easy to update Blue&Me^TM. It's designed to be updated regularly so it can be compatible with the latest mobile phones and media players. If you are not confident performing the update yourself, you can visit your local Fiat dealer who will update the system for you.

Blue&Me^TM Map updates

If you have Blue&Me^TM Map installed in your car, there is a separate software download specifically for this application. At the moment, there are no updates available for Blue&Me^TM Instant Nav.

New phones, iPods and iPhones

If you have the latest generation phone, iPod or iPhone you can download Blue&Me^TM version 5.4 for free to increase compatibility. To play music through your latest generation iPod or iPhone you need to get a special adaptor from the Fiat Accessories website or your local Fiat dealer.

In addition, Sony Ericsson mobile phones can be customised with a special software patch. You can download the patch for free and get instructions on how to install it here.

Language

You can change the language used by Blue&Me^TM by downloading the relevant file.
