I got my 500C on Monday and have had a great weekend driving around, but would like to be able to use the ecodrive, but keeping error message 10. I know others have had similar problems but has anyone solved the problem?
thanks
Hi
Collected my 500 March 10, attempted to install eco drive today but failed, error 10. Are Fiat Marketing monitoring this site as a response is way over due from what I can see .
I collected my 500c on March 1st and have the same problem. I sent an email to the 'help' on eco drive on Friday evening so should have a reply next week.
However, on reading other forums it would seem that the problem is that Blue & Me is version 5.4, but eco drive is only set up for version 5.3, so the car doesn't recognise it. It's a computer glitch.
So come on, Fiat Marketing, if you're checking these threads, can you get your technos to sort it out and put a compatible version of Eco Drive out for your new cars.
hi
this may be one of those problems ,that fiat have to rely on their supplier to rectify ...ie microsoft ..unfortunately some problems ,are difficult for even the manufacturer to rectify ,luckily i never installed the latest software ....being a miserable jock lol ...i don't upgrade anything ,until it;s proven lol

My experience of Eco Drive.
I have a 1.3 diesel 500 Multijet, It is my experence that Eco drive teaches you to drive econnomically, however this involves you driving like a 'Sunday driver'. The plus side of this, is a warm glow inside and a feeling that you are saving the planet the reality is a blocked DPF filter and an oil change light that tells you to change the engine oil and a bill for a service.

Doesn't EcoDrive suggest changing gear earlier to be more economical and once in 5th gear..... put your foot to the floor ?
Have been monitoring the forum since my original comment. There doesn't appear to be any progress in rectifying the problem! Visiting my dealer today I advised them of the problem. They were totally perplexed commenting it was the first time they had heard of the problem and that I was the first customer to report it. They wanted me to book my car in for investigation but I declined after explain' g what the forum had concluded & that a day in the workshop would be pointless as they wouldn't have access to the solution ie a software patch/update to Eco drive/ Blue & Me or both. They did run a quick diagnostic on the Blue and me to confirm every thing was ok. All tests were passed. They documented my problem and advised me to contact Fiat Customer service. I will contact them tomorrow. Watch this space!
WHY HAVE FIAT MARKETING FAILED TO COMMENT ON THIS OBVIOUS PROBLEM? A COMMUNICATION ON THIS FORUM WOULD GO A LONG WAY TO RESTORE CONSUMER CONFIDENCE!
I look at this forum everyday to see if anyone has had this problem sorted out or if fiat have commented on the situation. We have rang Fiat and emailed them numerous times. In the begining they replied immediately and were very helpful. Now there is nothing. We keep being told that they are investigating the problem and that they will be back in touch soon. All the other blue&me stuff works, phones, ipod so we know blue&me is working. Its just the eco drive that doesnt work. We are still are very frustrated that we, like so many others get the error 10 when we insert the usb with the ecodrive on and that Fiat seem to have no idea what error 10 is. I do not understand why some people have this problem and some dont. The updates / technology surely is the same on all the cars and if everyone goes to the same website to download the ecodrive they are downloading the same as us so i just dont understand. Fiat suggested we should take it for investigation at the dealers but they have already made it clear they dont know what to do nor are they intersted. They already told us that all they do is drive with their foot to the floor! very reassuring!
Rang Customer relations on 00800 3428 0000 Frid 16 April 2010. Spoke to Daniella, apparently in Milan. She was very pleasant . I explained the situation that I, & many others were having in our attempts to install Eco drive with B&M version 5.4 and the resulting USB Error 10 message.
I pointed out that the dealership were totally unaware of any such problem! I also explained that initial Fiat advice to use a different USB had also failed to resolve the problem! She provided me with a Case No and said she would speak to HQ who would in turn contact me.
I was contacted the same day by Terry, Fiat Customer Relations, who left a recorded message advising that the problem had been passed to the technical Department who would investigate and in turn contact my dealership with advice.
I was advised today that if I don't here from the dealership in the next few days then I should speak to Terry, Fiat Customer Relations. For the time being I am happy ie my initial contact with Customer Relations has been dealt with promptly and efficiently! Obviously the next stage is the most crucial. What will the Technical department advise? Will they admit to a problem?
My advice to every one else in the same situation is to make contact with Daniella on freephone 00800 3428 0000 to log your concern /query. With regards the USB Error 10 problem , the more customers who log the problem the better the outlook for a solution.
Hi All,
My apologies for the slow response. After talking to the Technical team (TESEO), they have said that they are aware of the problem and are working with HQ Turin to find a solution. The problem is due to a software incompatibility issue. The advise is, as picasson said, to call customer services on 00800 3428 0000 They can log your call and proceed in assisting you.
Kind Regards,
FM
** UPDATE**
Having heard nothing since my last communication I contacted Fiat Customer Relations yesterday for an update. Terry returned my call in the afternoon to say my dealer had rec'd a package that would resolve the problem. She didnt know what it was but said to contact my dealer.
I have just contacted my dealer who confirmed receipt of the package from Fiat UK but that they had no idea what to do with it as there were no instructions. The package contains what was described as a credit card device containing a chip. A software patch? or software new version? , currently no one knows. The dealership have contacted Fiat UK for instructions.
