    Frozen Gearbox?
Hi, just joined, and had nothing but enjoyment from my Grande Punto Dynamic over the past 2 and a bit years, with the exception of a couple of faulty door handles and a useless fiat dealer!  Over the past few weeks when the temp has been v ery low ive noticed that it seems to be very sticky from 1st to 2nd.  Is this just something that happens or can anything be done?  Total car technophobe in afraid!

Hi & welcome to the forum......I can't help you with your sticky gears but I know a man who might!

Unfortunately I also know that phil (truck-mechanic/technician blokey) is working all weekend so he may not reply to this until much later.  Someone else may have a suggestion........

hi i'm afraid i can't help the the useless dealer ...that's just how the are ,think it's called a querk ,of the dealerships ,that you have to suffer when buying a fiat

you'll probably, find that you have a sticking gear change cable , sometimes as the car warms up the gearchange will improve ,as it will be at it's worst first thing on these cold mornings ... aren't difficult to change

    thanks zana lol

Your gear selection cables are corroding (made worse in the cold as they freeze) - I've had this twice on my Bravo and both times replaced under warranty...call the garage and get it sorted...normally a next day fix.

tut tut barton ..you know zana meant me ...lol  you spend tooo much time  up the ochils  lol...suprisingly even though i.ve had my 06  grande since new it's been pretty faultless...a broken front spring ,and apart from that ,the normal wear and tar of tyres etconce this year and once last year my battery let me down ,though last year it di restart ..this year i called out one of the roadside companies ,as the car started then stopped ,they condemed the timong belt ,,got it towed to my work and jump started it  lol..got a new battery and 6 weeks later i still haven't got round to fitting it  lol..but  i will say  over 3 1/2 years out a batery is good going compared to the usual 2 years  of days gone by ..
