    Grande Punto Recall
Hi all, has anyone else been reading about this massive recall of 500,000 grande puntos because of a steering column fault, I wondered if there is a chassis range which is affected? It doesnt seem to be listed on VOSA yet but is all over motoring press pages.

hi not heard anything about a recall....though about 2 years ago there was one ref the steering column,,,something about a tool in the factory...( i just know zana is going to make a comment ) wasn't flaring the end of the shaft..which along with one for knee padding about the same time is the only 2 i have heard of

If it's any help, my warranty book has been stamped with 'campaign no 5397' after the work was done.

    hi kirsty

every little bit of info helps ..how old is our punto ??? being a mechanic myself (not fiat) i can't think of where the washer would be ,but think now is the time for fiat to enlighten us ,since the dealer has obviously admitted there is a recall due ,though i don't think it is a serious one ,as we would have been informed ...sounds more of a  " if you see this car  carry out recall"   there is various types of recalls  some serious some not and they won't affect the car what so ever

Got my recall notice this week off VOSA, and yes it is listed on the VOSA website look at Grande Punto not the Punto Grande listing.

    Re: Grande Punto Recall

hi found the recall ...just amazed it's taken over 3 years to find the fault..since it seems to be an incorrectly torqued bolt ...is it a case of tools in the factory are not being recalibrated / checked as often as they should ...or have they found that the original design torque is inadequate...if possible i'd prefer to take my car to a FIAT PROFESSIONAL dealer...thats the van dealer side, i wasn't being funny

    hi

your service book should be stamperd in the recall section ...if the car is up to date there will be a max of 3 stamps 2 for steering and 1 for knee protection ...if your not sure ,give fiat a call ,give them your chassis number and they will confirm if any are outstanding ..

    Re: Grande Punto Recall

any fiat dealer should be able to check the vehicle history ...best bet is to call fiat uk ..though in my handbook the number is incorrect ..lol...there are loads of posts on here with a contact number..try the search facility on here
