I have always loved Panda's I have had 6.... Last 2008 I bought another new panda from Souls in Milton Keynes.. It was faulty from new as was the last one I bought from Pinneys  it needed new steering column but that was fixed straight away.. BUT to this date I am told FIAT UK have refused to tell the mechanics at SOULS how to connect my cigarette lighter... The car did not have one but I was told if I bought it there would be no problem fitting one.. true fitting one was no problem but they do not know how to wire it in... I am sorry to have to post this here but Fiat need to be shown up for this.. there are other people on this forum who still have not got the cigarette lighters working I too want it for sat nav not smoking.

I have just been on live chat  they say they cannot help either.... it is amazing Fiat UK cannot fix such a small thing like a lighter in a Panda 

Hi DD... before you condemn FiatUK,  I suggest you contact Customer Services on 00800 3428 0000 not only to register your issue but also to advise them of what you are being told by your dealer.  They will investigate this for you.

I am sure Buttercup has had this fitted and it is working.  Our mate ('I am only a mechanic' ) phil, can also give you technical advice.

Don't forget you can take it to another dealer as it is still in warranty !  Hartwell, Dunstable, have started selling Fiat now.  Drag getting there but it is an option.

i think there is the plug for it to plug into under the interior trim, im sure of it, most car makers still put the wiring in for it and add smoking pack as extra now, and all they do it plug the lighter in,

 this may not be case on a panda as ive never had an interior out before

yep..generally ,it's 1 standard loom ,though there may be exceptions ..i doubt if they make a seperate loom just for the lighter....

what i would do is access the area where the lighter would be ,you may find a plug which will fit your lighter ...then locate the fuse .and any relays  that need to be fitted ,plug them in and hopefully that is you....think it may be called the passenger compartment  current outlet,your handbbok should give you the location of the fuse

i have a grande and though i don't have a sub in the  boot the loom is there

Hi yes I live right next to Hartwell, they were the ones who got me the lighter parts when I gave up on Souls after 18 months, but they to say Fiat will not provide the instructions how to fit it. There seems to be no one at Fiat who gives a dam once you have bought the car... I did go to live help and they refused to help because the car was not fitted with the lighter from new... I have waited 18 months now to get only the parts.. at least Hartwell did manaege to order them as spares giving the details of a stock car... I just want it fitted properly and not with a wire run from the battery as we did all those years ago. 

Yes they know where the fuse is and the relay but it seems the wires are not there and the guys at Sould wanted instructions from Fiat so as to be sure they do it according to the makers instructions... I am sick of driving to Souls only to be told Fiat refuse to send the wiring diagram because it was not fitted from the factory... if anyone from Fiat reads this can you get Souls the instructions....   

The parts are simply clipped in and the 2 plugs with wires are plugged into the unit it is so simple to do that.. Souls mechanic clipped it in in 30 seconds but then there is no fuse or relay so they tried to get the instructions from Fiat..   Fiat have so far refused to give them to Souls saying according to Souls because it was not fitted in the factory and now its not standard.. I think this is cr*p but I am only the customer who has 3 fiats in the family, always had Fiat panda's since 1993  L reg Panda  I am just disgusted Fiat do not bother simply because it was not fitted as a smoking pack from new.. I did not order the car but just bought it new out of the showroom 18 months ago... I do not want to just run wires from the battery either... I should not be made to do that either if the loom is the same... the wires must be there unless Fiat cut them off if the smoking pack is not factory fitted...

the advice i generally give  is what  i see as common sense ,as i work as a  mechanic /technician in a  truck dealership...i can't speak for  FIAT ..but o trucks we can fit spot lights  to the front ,reversing cameras  and any other accessory a customer requires ....so it is strangeyour dealer can't fit a  cigarette lighter ...now i imagine the dealer has access to  wiring diagrams ,after all they are dealers ..if they can't install a simple cigarette lighter ,should they really have the dealership ???do they need fiats help to change a bulb ???? issues like this is what damages fiats  name and ,the fact dealers don't inform customers at the time of purchase  about things like the lighter ...all i can suggest  is you contact an auto electrician  and he will fit it ... i'm afraid fiat this is a sad state of affairs ,the attitude of it wasn't fitted at build  stinks ..what's wrong with suppling the details to the dealer,or is the dealer using you as an excuse  for incompetence not realising you would find out  ...ahhh the internet .......to end on ........any dealer should be able to fit a cigarette lighter  it aint rocket science .

sorry for the moan but as a mechanic and in the trade i find  it annoying that dealers like that give the trade the bad name it gets ...  i know from contacts that fiat run excellent courses  .bu i don't know their policy ...hopefully the nice hobnob and tea people at marketing can help...can only say any issues i have had with fiat marketing have resolved

Don't know if the information they need is there and I think they will have to pay for any information given...   just an idea !

Have you called Customer Services 00800 3428 0000 and asked them to supply the info needed to the dealer ?

 

all dealers have a password to access all tech info ..i just think some dealers are incompetent and are un willing to help  customers and  quote fiat as a get out clause  not realising it may end up here   lol

would it be so difficult for the dealer to maybe look at a panda,wiring diagram that does have the smoking kit fitted as standard...seems a lot of hassel to get a simple  lighter fitted

in the truck dealership i work a customer bought a new truck,but he now wants to use it for towing petrol tankers ,but it isn't built for that ...it needs basically an engine brake ,so we contacted the tech guys ,who have told us all that is involved ie new camshaft ,engine brake ,steering wheel with switched wiring ,loads of software updates as the veh  needs to know it now has all this stuff....once job is done we fill out a form letting them know it is done and the update the parts list for that vehicle ,so in future it neds a item we fitted it will show up in the parts list as having it fitted...though the customer must have deep pockets as it isn't cheap what he wants...still in out yard no plates fitted lol

point of story is ..if we can do that,surely a lighter kit can be catered for ....my only other idea is find a good auto electrician
