see the thread about suspension noise on the Bravo T-Jet Sport. My car has 300 miles on it and it's going into the dealer on Saturday for the second time in 2 weeks (they had it in 2 days after I collected it to examine it and couldn't identify the problem). The clunking noise I have from the front is getting worse by the day and I'm not prepared to put up with it. I can actually feel it through the steering column the last couple of days. I'll post a mesage after Saturday to let you know what they say.
Cheers
took my car back to the dealer today. Asked if the mechanic could come out with me and I'd demonstrate the problem. However, they wanted to do it all themselves. 2 hours later, they stated that they had found a loose bolt on the steering column, had re-torqued it and everything should be OK. Took that car away and low and behold, same noise present so I just turned round at took it back. To add insult to injury, they had not used paper mats on the floor and I had oil on the drivers floor mat. So after I pointed out that I wanted a new set of mats, they suggested that I went out with their senior technician (which is what I had suggested nearly 3 hours previously). I did so and he heard it loud and clear, agreed it certainly wasn't right and thankfully seemed confident that h knew exactly what the problem was. He reckons is the bushes on the anti-roll bars (?)- sorry, I'm not a car person so that's hat I picked up. He stated that this was not a known issue on the Bravo, but that doesn't mean that it doesn't exist. May be worth taking your car back to the dealer and pointing out that suspension problems are not unknown. I've also got a recall on mine (something to do with the coolant seal) so I'll get that done at the same time.
So, 3 weeks old, 400 miles on the clock and it'll be back at the dealers for the 4th time (3 times for the suspension and 1 for a side skirt respray due to a scratch when I picked it up). Talk about bad luck ! To think as well I got rid of my last car as something went wrong with it !
I'm not giving up on it yet though as I really like it !
Hi,
I thought I'd say your not alone with the 'Clunking' suspension. My brand new Grande Punto Diesel is great in every way, a fantastic little car that I'm very pleased with........Apart from the niggling CLUNKING from the front end. If you go over anything bigger than a match box, feels like the front off side wheel is going to come through the bonnet!!!!
The dealer doesn't seem to care, has had two attempts and a set of suspension struts fitted but to no avail. It only 4 weeks old and feels
like it needs a full new set of anti-roll bar bushes???
Let me know WHEN you get your issues resolved and what they did, cos they seem to know where I am.
Thanks
MH
My car was in the garage for 3 days last week being "fixed" (700 miles on the clock)- not sure exactly what they did to it as they didn't explain it fully (I was too busy to be honest complaining to them about their poor service) but it involved replacement of suspension arms/ anti-roll bar thingy something (I'm pretty ignorant when it comes to car mechanics as you can tell !). Anyway, noise disappears for 24 hours and then re-appears, same as before. Any bump of significance comes with clunking and loud creaking sounds ! That's 3 times in a month the car has been in for the problem (5 days in total) and still not fixed. Add to that the re-spray of the side skirt on week 1 due to damage on collection and I'm not a happy chappy. I've told the garage that if they can't fix it (which they obviously can't), I want them to replace the car under the Sale of goods Act. Needless to say, they have fobbed me off on this one and asked for the opportunity to have another go. I am willing to give them this opportunity (as I like the car) but it will be their last chance- 4 times in the garage for the same thing in a little over 1 month of not really acceptable. I'll let you know how it goes.
Apart from that, it's a lovely car !! Even better the fact that there's relatively few of them about- everyone's got a Focu, Astra or Golf so nice to drive something that's a wee bit different and infinately bette looking.
Be on the safe side...... put into writing to the dealer the history and also what has been agreed for the future.
I would also register this issue with Fiat (Tel.No: 00800 3428 0000)
