I have had my beautiful Fiat 500 since Jan 09. I recently upgraded my phone to the latest iPhone 4. It paired with Blue and Me no problem - though my original iPhone used to have a ringing tone through the speakers when the phone rang, and now the music just cuts out when the phone rings and the only ring is on the actual phone. I switched networks from O2 to Vodafone, so don't know whether it's that.
Anyway... I had been wanting the blue and me iPod adaptor, as it was such a pain to convert the format of all my songs (esp once bought from iTunes, which had to be burned onto a CD first then reloaded onto ITunes in order to load them to a memory stick, etc.) From reading in forums I understood that I would need to upgrade my software, which I did, following the instructions on the site, and it seemed to install fine. But I then plugged in the new adaptor, and connected my iPhone 4 to it it doesn't work. It makes the 'connection' noise that iPhones make when you connect them to a player, charger, etc... and it appears to charge the phone whilst attached, but it won't play music, and it doesn't say 'Media Player' on the display. I tried to get it to play by selecting the iPod on the IPhone menu, but it would only go to the playlists for a second or so, and then the screen would go to a white background with a grey graphic iPod picture and a message saying 'iPod accessory attached.' or something very similar to that.
The official word is that the iPhone 4 has not been tested with the blue and me iPod adaptor, and the dealer I bought it from said I could return it if it didn't work, but I just wanted to double check that I have done everything right before I admit defeat.
Thanks very much!! Julie
Hi
I have a new Doblo and an iPhone 3GS. All was well, great sound and control but after an OS upgrade to version 4 my phone no longer connects to the car. Bluetooth says "Connected" on the phone but Media Player connects for about 5 seconds then disconnects. Sometimes it reconnects a few seconds later only to disconnect a few seconds later & the phone bleeps its connection sound.
Unplugging the adapter or phone & reconnecting repeats the same action - On for about 5 seconds then Off with Media Player saying nothing is connected.
Is this a faulty adapter or has Apple OS 4 "broken" it?
Anyone else having a problem?
Many thanks
hi ...
apart from having some jokes about ,maybe the i phone 4 cradle in the car may be blocking signals lol sorry sorry sorry ...
there is a new update on blue & me think it's 5.5 ,which you can download from this site
i would imagine the i 4 is too new to yet be totally compatible ,car manufacturers will always be playing catch up ,with fone manufacturers ...and it doesn't help when apple and microsoft ,aren't buddies...
will say i have driven the new doblo vans ,and am well impressed ,so can only guess the car version is way better

Apple says:-
"The method used to recognize the USB device has a clever bit of code in the firmware to improve the connect time once the initial handshake with the device has been established. So after the update to iOS4, the host device (Car Stereo) still thinks that it is connecting to the un-updated client device (iPhone prior to updating to iOS4) The updated client device (Your iPhone with iOS4), must fool the host device (Your car stereo), into believing that it is an entirely new device. This is done by connecting your iPhone to the stereo head USB port with the iPhone switched off completely. This is achieved by holding down the top power button on the iPhone until the red slide bar comes up and prompts you to shut the iPhone down. Do this and then with the car stereo switched on, plug the iPhone into the USB socket and wait till the iPhone starts of it's own accord. If it does not start, press the top power button on the phone until it starts. This will force the host device (Your car stereo) and the client device (Your iPhone) to re-negotiate the handshake between the devices and get you back to where you will once again be happy"
I've tried it & me phone now works OK. No software upgrade required.
