Hi all.

My GP is now just over a year old and has been fine (touch wood) except now it has a couple of niggles, both of which I think are going to be a pain to get sorted,

I know a lot have problems with Blue to me, but it had been working fine, including reading texts, but now everything works fine, except you cant pick up a call the the phone button on the wheel, it works for every other function, and i can accept a call with the actual mobiles key,I have got so used to just picking it up with the wheel button, that my mobiles always in accesable when it rings, anyone else had this?

The other is the real fun one not!, 3 times now the ventilation fan has not came on, (always went its roasting hot) i can play with all of the buttons, the Lcd displays all work, i can turn the system on and off, put it in auto mode, put the aircon on or off, but nothing happens, switch the car on and off, but to no avail but some time later in the journey, anywhere from 5 to 30 or so minutes it suddenly fires up!!! pretty wierd

I am just about to ring the dealer as its in 2nd year of warrenty , but unless its happened to others i think its going to be a *** to track down as it doesn't happen regulary, but when it does its a pain and I want it sorted before I get in to the 3rd year non effective dealer warrenty stage...

 i think the main point her is for you to log the fault whilst in warranty ,that way if it is never rectified ,and the warranty runs out ,they can't charge you ...as you defected it whilst in warranty ....i'm guessing that you have dual climate control ..which is more complicated than  normal poor mans aircon ..lol  where there is a temp sensor that measures inside temp ,then the sensor for the outside ambient ...thats the one on your dash ...keep an eye on that ,as i don't know with fiat but sometimes diesel engines need to know the outside ambient temp to run correctly ,and it may affect the climate control ..so keep an eye on the temp on the dash ....to be honest ,i think the best bet would be for the dealer to get an aircon company to check your car .which if you do it correctly, they could do it at your home ,,,the fiat diagnostic  tool should have stored errors for the aircon ,if not ,they should be able to carry out function tests ,though with intermittant faults ,it will probably pass ..other idea is to take it in when it happens if convienent  and get some one to check it there and then ,but explain it is intermittant ...hope i have helped

Well pretty much as expected, waited 3 1/2 hours(they only had it in the workshop for 20 minutes or so)  for them to tell me thay couldn't find the fault, nothing logged and so the only thing i could do was bring it back and leave it with them for a few days when it does it more often, I made sure it was logged, the temp on the dash seems about right. the problem with taking it when it actually happens the longest its been off is about the same time it takes to drive to the dealer ???!!!  its one of those faults that (and i may regret saying this) that wants to get worse so it can get tracked down and fixed.

it's amazing how many faults aren't logged  ...i'm in the trade and find that odd...though unfortunately too mant mechanics ,i wouldn't class them as technicians ,wouldn't be able to diagnoise a flat tyre ,as the computer hasn't logged it ....i know it may be a bit late ,but book it back in fault or no fault ,,,and say that if it hasn't logged a  fault (as it should store 1 even if the warning disappears ) for them to clear the memory ,then the next time it happens take it to them if you can ,and ask them to look at it there and then as it is an intermittant fault ,and the fault may have gone by the time they can look at it in a weeks time ... i get annoyed being in the trade the amount of times people use the " nothing in the computer " would love tosee them try and diagnoise a fault pre computer days ... a good old misfire when the only diagnostic computer was the brain and experience ...setting up a carb ,points and timing dwell angles ..showing my age here  lol
