Fiat's are in my opinion promoting smoking, if you buy a Fiat Panda Active Eco, it doesn't come with a 12v outlet on it, this has to be asked for when you order your car so that it can be built in the factory. The 12v outlet is known as a "Smokers Kit", so if you dont smoke then why should you have to ask for one to be fitted. The reason this has come up is that i brought my partner a Sat Nav for her birthday but have nowhere to pug it in to charge on the car?
I spoke to Fiat Uk who say that you have to ask for it to be fitted when you order your car, they also said that if we have one fitted by our dealership it would void any warranty on the vehicle wiring, but would not say why. All they say is that their technical department do not advise to have one fitted after it leaves the factory. They told me to take it up with our dealership as to why we were not asked if we wanted a "Smokers Kit" fited???
Having spoken to the dealership they said that they do not mention this in their sales patter, and we have to ask for it, BUT WHY IF YOU DONT SMOKE"??? when we went to buy our car, we wanted a Red one, we were told by the dealership that it could take 10 weeks to build, but they had the same model of car coming in but in blue, so we opted for that vehicle.
All that Fiat seem to want to do is take your money and pass the buck, the dealership say its not up to them , Fiats say its not up to them each company is referring it to each other. Fiats will not say why it would void any warranty if we had it fitted, the wiring is there but just not connected to the fuse box.
Come on Fiat, take responsibility for a major *** up, we are not the only people with this problem there are lots of others if you look around.
I can't believe it doesn't come with a socket. That's really rubbish.
It should be standard in all cars, not that you have to take up smoking to be able to charge your phone!
You wouldn't even think of having to ask for one if they don't tell you the car hasn't got one. It would be like checking that the car comes with a steering wheel.
