Re: Fiat 500 - should I buy one?

The son in law person is a mechanic too but I haven't asked him about the 500.   I know to time my questions to him taking into account the complexities of his answer.   A general question asked mid afternoon can normally be answered in full by bed time but if I was going to ask about the Fiat 500 with a view to buying he would have to be staying here for a few days and I would ask the question first thing on the first morning.   Actually he is coming up here for a few days at the end of the week..........

I know when I had the old 500 it was such fun and when you saw another one on the road you flashed your lights.   Do they still do that with the new ones?   A lot of them are now hire cars though.

The one I was after was Pasodoble red, the 1.2 Sport.   So it had air conditioning and the sport seats.   They were the cloth/ambiance material.   I would have put on the "go faster" stripes down the side and the chrome trim and the rubbing strip with the logo.

Unfortunately the chap hasn't come back to us with a trade in price for the megane though so if he doesn't then I think we might leave it until towards the end of the year (we only work from March until October) and get the use out of the convertible.   Then maybe I will look at the 500C although I am not sure about the plastic rear window and also don't know if I would be able to use the rear mirror with the roof down.  What other extras would you recommend?   If I was ordering one rather than buying one off the shop floor then I might think about leather seats etc.   Views please - like what other extras do you have that you would recommend?
