A Grande Punto bouncing on a trampoline is the highlight of a stunning new TV advert from Fiat Group Automobiles UK.Shot at London’s Alexandra Palace, the £500,000 film shows a team of trampolinists – including former Great Britain team Olympian Kirsten Lawton – springing up towards the camera carrying message boards describing the Grande Punto. And for a finale to the commercial, a full-size Grande Punto also bounces on to the trampoline, and performs rolls and pirouettes before coming to rest. Exactly how the film crew were able to capture this amazing stunt remains a secret, but John Quarrey, director of London-based Krow Communications, which dreamed up the advertisement, did reveal that the car was dropped from 20 metres on to the trampoline. The scene perfectly captures the new Series 2 Grande Punto’s latest ‘Engineered To Entertain’ banner.“If a car that can bounce off a trampoline isn’t both well made and entertaining, nothing is!” says John Quarrey. “We wanted a new, challenging advert for Grande Punto showing that the car is brilliantly made but also great fun.“We also wanted to include important information about the features and finance, so people see there is substance and incentive behind the seductive shape.”It took the cast one and a half days to rehearse and get the choreography right before filming started. The advert was directed by Michael Gracey alongside visual effects artist Pete Commins, who together have worked with Charlotte Church, Will Young, Natasha Bedingfield and Sugarbabes.”

We are delighted to have been featured on TV’s Fifth Gear programme and have already emerged as the winner on two occasions.
The Panda 1.4 100HP beat the Renault Twingo 1.2 turbo GT around the race circuit on Anglesey.http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=Li-_ZJUhUac
The Fiat 500 1.4 Sport beat the Mini One around the same track.*http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=ZO53uuT8uNs
These tests demonstrate that design, practicality in the case of the Panda, and style in the case of the Fiat 500, do not compromise the dynamic abilities of our cars.
What do you think? Have your say!

Every day we use dozens of tiny objects – from Post-it notes to Band-Aids to erasers – that work so well we pay them little attention.
Although modest in size and price, some of these objects are true masterpieces of the art of design and we simply couldn’t do without them.
The Fiat 500 is definitely an Everyday Masterpiece.
And here is the TV ad that best represents our own ‘Everyday Masterpiece’.

MAKING ‘RE-MIX’
This video was filmed around the streets of Turin. Let’s read some ‘behind the scenes’ tips revealed by the production company while making the video….
First of all, before we could start shooting, we had to clear parts of Turin. Normally this would be easy, but there was a huge Book Fair going on, and as it says in the Highway Code, you can’t have professorial types wandering around with their noses in Proust while three Puntos are flying about.
The shooting was smooth enough, thanks to the incredible skill of the drivers, who had the knack of repeating the same trick to within a millimetre – over and over again. A small drama did occur when the Puntos were driving down the metro steps, but that obviously had nothing to do with the cars, and everything to do with the uneven build of the steps.
The tough bit was the editing. Sometimes the pictures led the music, sometimes it was the other way around. We’d do the edit, then send it to the music guy. At the same time he’d create sections using car sounds that fitted rhythmically with the music, which we would then edit to.
Put the two together and you’ve got the re-mix. Actually, we ended up with several because rules about how you can show cars driving vary from country to country. In Greece you can show pretty much anything. We like Greece! We hope you like the film.

Wednesday 13 June 2007 at the Round House in Camden Town, London – a unique venue for an extraordinary launch.
The venue itself will give you an idea of how huge this event was… Not only were we introduced to the Bravo – one of the most successful cars in Europe today – but Fiat also announced the launch of their new website. With this website Fiat will lead the automotive industry into a new digital world.
On the night the best of Italian culture was on show: design, glamour, quality and, of course, fabulous people. Every detail of this phenomenal event was influenced by Italian style, creating a most charismatic evening with which to welcome the Bravo into the UK!

Making the Bravo commercial
An amazing film! Do you want to know how it was created?
Here are a few words from the production team…
The location was not supposed to be recognisable, but just so you know, the scenes outside the tunnel were shot in southern Spain, where you can find beautiful rolling greenery and snow close together. To make things more interesting, the weather shifted as often as a rev counter, from grey and overcast to bright and sunny – not good when you’re looking for continuity. We only got the countryside shot at the last moment of our second and final day of outdoor shooting. Thank you, God!
The tunnel shot was done in a Barcelona studio. Just in case that sounds glamorous, imagine watching three cars moving not very much for 12 hours in a black space…
The floating islands, snow cubes, and tunnel patterns and lights were created in post production, using a technique known as CGI. No one knows what that stands for, but it’s very, very clever. We hope you enjoy the results.

‘Bravo is a wonderful creature’
It could be the opening line of a love story… But in reality this was the verdict of Steiner, one of the production company’s most renowned directors, about the Bravo. The video itself clearly expresses the wonder of the Bravo: from the different phases of the car’s manufacture, right through to completion, when a magnificent and beautiful creature appears.
Furthermore, this film could be considered even more unique if we talk about the reason it was made. Contrary to what ordinarily happens, this film was created for ‘internal use only’ – its target audience was conventions, events, showrooms and airports.
So… do you think this ‘fascination movie’ truly expresses the beauty of Bravo? Just watch it, and share your reactions with us.

2 events and a conference in just 2 days… a massive job, but with the right people anything can be done.
Let them tell us how they did it…
When the idea of revealing eight cars instead of the traditional one was first introduced we were strongly advised against it. Eight cars meant more lighting, more decking, more labour and, most of all, more time! We only had the venue for a limited amount of time. This was the real challenge - to get in, build the set, do two evening events and a conference and get out on time. On day 1 at 7am in the morning, six trucks arrived filled with lighting, sound, draping, props etc... with approx 60 people, the whole event was unloaded into the venue and the build started....
By that night, we were ready for the cars. From 10pm at night through to 2am the next morning, the cars were unloaded from the transporter and put into place on the specially built raised deck. On day 2, the set and decoration were done. Starting with the carpet at 6am, all was carefully positioned and dressed. Next, rehearsals started in earnest as the set continued to be built around them. Each time the reveal was rehearsed, the walls had to be re-built by lowering the whole truss and re-attaching the wall material.
On the first evening over 1500 people came through the doors. The following morning, the whole set was transformed and prepared for a conference. Directly following the conference, the venue was remodeled again to allow for a further evening for the Fiat Family. Lastly, with the help of 80 (now very tired people) we had one night to get everything out again and back into the waiting trucks......
