MAKING ‘RE-MIX’
This video was filmed around the streets of Turin. Let’s read some ‘behind the scenes’ tips revealed by the production company while making the video….
First of all, before we could start shooting, we had to clear parts of Turin. Normally this would be easy, but there was a huge Book Fair going on, and as it says in the Highway Code, you can’t have professorial types wandering around with their noses in Proust while three Puntos are flying about.
The shooting was smooth enough, thanks to the incredible skill of the drivers, who had the knack of repeating the same trick to within a millimetre – over and over again. A small drama did occur when the Puntos were driving down the metro steps, but that obviously had nothing to do with the cars, and everything to do with the uneven build of the steps.
The tough bit was the editing. Sometimes the pictures led the music, sometimes it was the other way around. We’d do the edit, then send it to the music guy. At the same time he’d create sections using car sounds that fitted rhythmically with the music, which we would then edit to.
Put the two together and you’ve got the re-mix. Actually, we ended up with several because rules about how you can show cars driving vary from country to country. In Greece you can show pretty much anything. We like Greece! We hope you like the film.
